It is romance book season! Valentine’s Day! This year, I thought it would be fun to order some blind date books and read them in honor of the romantic holiday. Book Review: How to Find a Missing Girl by Victoria Wlosok

Iris Blackthorn is a wannabe detective. After her sister, Stella, went missing she was warned not to interfere with a criminal investigation again. A year later another girl is missing and Iris is determined to find out what happened to her. That other girl also happens to be Iris’ ex-girlfriend, Heather.

With an investigative team of her two best friends and her ex-best friend, Iris does whatever she can to unveil the truth. While searching for Heather, Iris discovers just how many people in town are hiding secrets, including her own sister.

Book Review: Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin Van Whye

Bryson Keller, popular soccer team star, doesn’t believe in high school romance. In order to change his mind, he is dared to date a new girl every week.  Whoever asks him out first on Monday is his girlfriend until Friday.

Book Review: Icarus by K. Ancrum

Icarus tells the story of a young art thief of the same name. Icarus is a high school senior who has never had a real friend. No one is allowed in his home due to the presence of an extensive collection of stolen artworks. He cannot get close to peers due to his illegal extracurriculars.

Icarus grows lonely trapped in a routine, instructed by his distant father. During a regular heist to the Black house, Icarus meets a boy, Helios. Helios is trapped in his father’s home with no access to the outside world. He asks to befriend Icarus given his predicament.

Throughout the book, Icarus sneaks into the Black house to visit Helios, where they ultimately fall in love. Outside of the Black house, Icarus grows closer to his classmates. He learns what it is like to have friends, a life, and real teenage experiences. He learns that his father has ultimately stolen his youth. With this realization, Icarus is determined to set Helios and himself free from their respective fathers and together they can run off into the sunset.
